Superannuation Guarantee
The Superannuation Guarantee rate is currently 11.5% of employees ordinary time earnings. This rate will change from the 1st July 2025 to 12%.
This means all salary and wages paid on or after the 1st July 2025, even if some of the pay period is before the 1st July 2025, must be paid at the Superannuation Guarantee rate of 12%.
Right To Disconnect
The Right to Disconnect was introduced on the 26th August 2024 for non-small business employers, however the right to disconnect for small business employers (less than 15 employees) change starts on 26th August 2025. This means eligible employees have the right to refuse employer and third-party contact outside of working hours in certain circumstances. You should check your award to ensure your business is now complying with the Right to Disconnect clause.
Increase to Casual Pay Rates for WA Awards
Western Australian Industrial Relations Commission has issued a General Order. This order increases the casual loading to 25% for many private sector and local government awards, which have a casual loading below 25%. This change is effective from 25th April 2025. It is recommended that you check the new versions of WA Award Summaries to ensure you are compliant.
